Identity & Citizenship Guide
How to Manage Your Identity Remotely
1. The Tax Registration Number (TRN)
The TRN is a unique nine-digit identification number. You cannot buy land, open a bank account, or trade stocks in Jamaica without one.
Step A: Verify if you already have a number by using the search tool below.
Step B: To Apply from Abroad: Download the Application Form (Taxpayer Registration Form), have it notarized by a Notary Public or Jamaican Consular Officer, and mail it to Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) with a certified copy of your Passport or Birth Certificate.
2. Adult Passport Renewal
If you have an expired or expiring Adult passport (issued after 2001), you do not need to visit an embassy.
Check: You must have your current passport in hand and a digital passport-sized photo that meets PICA specifications.
Action: Use the PICA portal below to upload documents and pay the fee via credit card. Your new passport will be couriered directly to your overseas address.
